Former journalist and educator
Dr David Conley passed away in April 2016.
David will be remembered for his great contribution to journalism and journalism education. He’s best known to Aussie journalism educators for his work teaching journalism at University of Queensland Journalism, and author of many excellent articles and other texts, including his popular textbook, The Daily Miracle: An Introduction to Journalism. David was a senior lecturer in journalism at the University of Queensland from 1993 to 2006. He was known as a dedicated, passionate lecturer and was twice named lecturer of the year.
David lived in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, in his retirement years. He was remembered fondly in an obituary by his local newspaper, the now defunct Barnsdall Times, which outlines the chance encounter that led to his first job in communications, his move to Australia and his work in Australia and the USA, and his retirement years: https://web.archive.org/web/20160814225743/http://barnsdalltimes.com/http:/barnsdalltimes.com/obituaries/david-conley-obituary-an-intrepid-journalist
